Everything IS bigger here in Texas!

My oldest daughter met me at the airport and promptly took me out to eat at Cuba Libre on Henderson Street in uptown Dallas. Shortly after we were seated, a very immodest WILBO sat at the table next to us and really tested my self control. It wasn’t so much a matter of desire but sheer curiousity. “Do you think they are real?”

Oh, a WILBO is a “woman with impossibly large b_ _ bs”.

By the way, their Smoked Chorizo Queso dip is wonderful. We almost cancelled the salad and ordered a second one.

A long day gets longer

Well, after 3 ½ HOURS in line…

Let me say that again because I don’t think you got the full effect that I intended…

THREE AND ONE HALF HOURS!

IN LINE!

AT THE AIRPORT!

3 1/2 hours in line at an airport counter is a long time. However, standing in that line with an unashamedly affectionate 17 year old wrestler whose primary love language is physical touch changes it from a test of patience to a test of endurance!

“Dude, leave me alone!”

“Go sit down!”

“I just hugged you!”

“Lord, how long?”

Long story short, my son has a new flight to KC…ON TUESDAY! School resumes on Monday.

He’s happy because his big spring break in California just got extended by 4 days. People in line behind us clapped when he ‘high-fived’ the girl at the counter. He has been such a trooper helping me and has had such a great attitude that I think he deserves it!

So that is why I am stuck here

I slept for an hour and then went downstairs to eat one of my three free meals when I received a call from my son…

His flight to Kansas City has just been cancelled because it snowed in Milwaukee!

My home for a day, I hope…

I just learned that I will spending the day at the LAX La Quinta. I just hope the bed is comfortable!

I’m not out yet

It never ceases to amaze me how much my plans change! And so quickly!

Frequently without my consent…

My daughter got on her plane just fine.

However, my flight from LAX to Las Vegas on United Airlines is delayed due to mechanical problems. Consequently, I have now missed my connecting American Airlines flight from Las Vegas into Dallas!

Rise and shine

Boy this is early! I feel like I ran into a brick wall!

…and I just got out of bed!

I hope a shower helps me…

Changing plans again!

My daughter’s flight departs for KC tomorrow morning at 6:15. She needs to be their one hour early and the airport is 40 minutes away IF there is no traffic. She has been visiting one of her best friends however I cannot let her ask them to take her to the airport at 4:30 IN THE MORNING!

Since I no longer have a place to live, I parked my old truck on the side of the road near my old house to get an Internet connection. I booked my 7:15 flight to Dallas, TX ($500! but that is what you get when you book at the last minute!) and a hotel at the airport. We will take the shuttle from the hotel to get on our planes.

My first job as a day laborer!

Well, this morning, I repaired a house that I NO LONGER OWN!

A sprinkler valve decided to stick open TWO DAYS BEFORE THE CLOSE OF ESCROW! So, my son and I went out in the cold (41º), damp morning and fixed the sprinkler valve, filled up the holes that I had dug last night programmed the sprinklers for the new owner!

I did however enjoy taking one last, LONG hot shower in the bathroom that I designed and built while he payed for the water!

Did I forget something…

I left my house for the ‘last’ time. (cue soft tears in the background)

WHERE IS MY LAPTOP?

I returned to the house and sure enough, there it is on the school room bookshelf!

As I grabbed it off the shelf, I thought that I should take one last look through the rooms. Incredible!

I found a SMALL SUITCASE full of stuff that we missed!

Packed…but not done

My son, youngest daughter and I FINALLY finished packing the truck.

I had to call the moving company (ABF) three times to reschedule the pickup time. Fortunately, they were very accomodating.

Now I will START painting the new French doors. Escrow has officially closed and I am STILL working on this house!

This cannot be normal!?!?
